Abstract: Though, as a developing country, Turkey has experienced changes regarding women participation in social areas, it has also been stated that the majority of Turkey's women still have a secondary role in the private as well as social spheres. We aim to evaluate the issue of gender inequality within the analytical framework of the 'having, loving and being' criteria of Allardt's model. In order to measure gender inequality, we composed 'having, loving and being' indices for both women and men. According to our results, since there are important disparities between women and men in terms of these indices, the majority of women in Turkey have no equal advantage to access to material as well as nonmaterial functions compared to men.
